Creative Journaling and the Creative Process (Grades 7-12) - Session A with BillyDee

In this week-long camp, students will receive their own journals to customize, create-in, and use to explore "the artistic process." Campers will discuss creative journaling examples, learn the basics of journal prompts and photographic journal entires. By the end of the week, students will have drawn in, painted in, poked holes in, wrecked pages of, written in, and collaged in their journals, finishing camp by discussing their creative processes with their peers.

Intro to Electronic Music Production (Grades 7-12) - Session B with Jason Mullinax

During this week-long camp, students will gain an understanding of basic electronic music production, including learning vocab, inputting and arranging sounds in computer programs, and different types of workstations. In this week-long course, campers will learn about the basics of metal-jewelry making. The instructor will spend the first part of the week introducing campers to materials and tools, demo-ing basic techniques, and discussing ways to make useful and wearable objects. Students will practice patina applications, cold connections, and create their own pieces to take home on Friday.

Advanced Drawing (Grades 7-12) - Session C with Vickie Mitchell

In this camp, students will perfect their drawing skills and knowledge of drawing techniques. Students will begin the week studying works by master artists and learning about tools involved, like drawing pencils, graphite, charcoal, and ink wash. Students will practice still lives and nature drawings, finishing the week by hanging their art and critique.

Audition Technique for Aspiring Actors (Grades 7-12) - Ren Cleveland

A practical and fun hands-on study of the science of successful auditioning in which students can apply skills taught in class toward future auditions - whether it be for a high school play, college acting program, or an agent. Students will learn specifics on how different casting processes operate, how to select material, and how to embrace and hone their individual artistry in order to always confidently put their best foot forward. Throughout the week, students will apply these lessons by selecting and polishing their own audition material to be performed during an informal sharing on Friday and to stash in their acting arsenal for auditions to come.

Bucket Band! DIY Drum Making and Performance (Grades 4-6) - Session B with Jason Mullinax

Always wanted to play drums but didn't want to invest in a drum set? Did you know that you can get dynamic and interesting sounds out of a simple bucket? Plenty of talented street performers use buckets in lieu of a drum set to play for crowds. In this course, you will construct your own bucket drum, learn basic drumming techniques, and perform interlocking and fun drum rhythms with others. You'll have the skills to start your own bucket band in no time! No previous musical experience needed. 

Collage and Mixed Media (Grades 7-12) - Session A with BillyDee

In this week-long course, students will learn to create expressive artworks based on their personal intersts using collage and mixed media. Students will start off the week discussing "mood boards" and "vision boards", discussing the histroy of collage, and learning about symbolism, color theory, and effective layout styles. Students will finish the week with their own product to discuss and critique with the class.

Discover the magical world of shadow puppetry! Campers will learn to manipulate shadows and light with their bodies and their own puppet creations. They will craft a story, puppets, and props for a short performance that they will present at the end of the week.
