Your Voice Matters: Devised Theatre (Grades 7-12) - Session A with River Hedgepeth

Campers will collaborate for two weeks as an ensemble using their passions for social justice and theatre to construct a short performance. Campers will explore and discuss their chosen topic through story circles, movement, and even interviews to help craft their Your Voice Matters: Devised Theatre performance. This camp will provide opportunities to build confidence, work on collaboration, and allow space for young people to develop their voice through a creative outlet.

In this week-long camp, students will receive their own journals to customize, create-in, and use to explore "the artistic process." Campers will discuss creative journaling examples, learn the basics of journal prompts and photographic journal entires. By the end of the week, students will have drawn in, painted in, poked holes in, wrecked pages of, written in, and collaged in their journals, finishing camp by discussing their creative processes with their peers.

In this camp, students will explore the ins and outs of creative nonfiction writing. Throughout the week, students will practice with writing exercises, group critique, and learning the five "R's" of creative nonfiction. By the end of the week, students will have written their own creative nonfiction works to share with their peers.

Students will practice patina applications, cold connections, and create their own pieces to take home on Friday.

In this camp, students will perfect their drawing skills and knowledge of drawing techniques. Students will begin the week studying works by master artists and learning about tools involved, like drawing pencils, graphite, charcoal, and ink wash. Students will practice still lives and nature drawings, finishing the week by hanging their art and critique.

Audition Technique for Aspiring Actors (Grades 7-12) - Ren Cleveland

A practical and fun hands-on study of the science of successful auditioning in which students can apply skills taught in class toward future auditions - whether it be for a high school play, college acting program, or an agent. Students will learn specifics on how different casting processes operate, how to select material, and how to embrace and hone their individual artistry in order to always confidently put their best foot forward. Throughout the week, students will apply these lessons by selecting and polishing their own audition material to be performed during an informal sharing on Friday and to stash in their acting arsenal for auditions to come.
